Do you make New Year’s Resolutions??
I try to keep it to 2-3 things maximum so I can really concentrate my efforts into making that thing happen. Sometimes, when we want to change too many things we never really accomplish anything. There’s a saying in Spanish that goes – El que mucha abarca, poco aprieta, which means that someone who tries to do too much, usually doesn’t have the best grip on anything he does.
To increase your chances of success, just pick ONE thing and stick with it. You’ll be concentrating all your efforts into that ONE thing and your focus will help you achieve your new goal. And do not get discouraged. Success is the result of little efforts repeated day in, day out.
Here are MY resolutions for this new year…
Keep Running
Running has become a passion of mine during 2012. Well, running/walking is really what I do. But I have set various goals for myself this year – Miami ½ Marathon, Puerto Rico ½ marathon and the Divas ½ marathon. All in preparation for the Disney and Paris ½ marathon in 2014. Just like Forrest Gump, I’ll keep on running and who knows where all this running will take me… around the world??
Eat Healthier
Funny that I write a vegetarian blog and one of my resolutions is to eat even healthier, right?? But I know I sometimes limit myself to cooking and eating many of the same things I am comfortable with. But I want to expand my culinary horizons by making more of the things I know are good for me, but I do not make as often – like quinoa, kale, tofu, more salads, more fruits…
Give Hatha Yoga Classes
I have been sharing my more natural lifestyle with you mostly via my vegetarian cooking. But hatha yoga is another layer of my lifestyle I have not been sharing all that much with anyone. I am proposing to start sharing and teaching the benefits of hatha yoga to those around me. Maybe it’ll be challenging to share in the blog, but we’ll figure something out. For now, I want to start small with people in my area who are interested. Yoga has given me so much in my life… I want to reciprocate and give back to those who want to take advantage of it too.
Happy 2013 and may your year be blessed with everything you need. The Universe will take care of it. Trust it!!
I stopped making resolutions a couple of years back because they never seemed to really work for me. What I have done instead is not worry about new years and try to make a radical change but instead I attempt to make changes each and everyday striving to be better if that makes sense. I overall want to be much healthier in the new year and will strive to do so each and everyday! Happy New Year!
